Intense Pulse Light Therapy

IPL is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses broad-spectrum light to target specific skin concerns. Unlike laser treatments, which use a single wavelength of light, IPL emits multiple wavelengths, allowing it to treat a wider range of skin conditions.

During an IPL treatment session, pulses of light are directed at the skin, targeting age spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation, and blood vessels, depending on the specific concern being addressed. The light energy is absorbed by the targeted areas, stimulating cell regeneration and promoting collagen production, resulting in smoother, more even-toned skin.

How it Works:

What to expect during your appointment?

  • Before your aesthetics appointment you should contact us with any specific questions on the treatment or procedure, schedule a consultation, and follow any pre-appointment instructions provided to you.

During your aesthetics appointment, you can expect to be greeted by a member of our team, have the treatment area prepared, undergo the procedure or treatment, and maintain open communication throughout the process.

After your aesthetics appointment, you will receive post-treatment care instructions, timeline for a recovery period, schedule any necessary follow-up appointments, and maintain the results with recommended care and lifestyle adjustments.

  • Q1: How can I schedule a consultation or treatment? To schedule a consultation or treatment, you can contact us at 816-552-5400 or use our patient portal form on our website. Our staff will assist you in finding a convenient date and time for your visit.

Q2: Do I need a consultation before receiving treatment? Yes, we highly recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation before any aesthetic treatment. During the consultation, we will assess your specific concerns, discuss your goals, and recommend the most suitable treatment plan for you.

  • Q1: What can Lumecca treat? Lumecca is effective for a variety of skin concerns, including hyperpigmentation (such as sunspots and age spots), vascular lesions (like spider veins), rosacea, and overall skin tone improvement. It can also help with skin texture and fine lines.

Q2: Is the lumecca treatment painful? Most patients report mild discomfort during the procedure, often described as a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Post-treatment, some redness and swelling may occur but usually subside quickly.

Q3: How long does it take to see results from Lumecca? Many patients notice improvements after just one session, but optimal results are typically seen after multiple treatments. Skin may continue to improve over the weeks following the procedure as collagen production increases and pigmentation fades.

  • Pre-Treatment Instructions

    Avoid Sun Exposure:

    • Refrain from direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and sunless tanning products for at least four weeks before your scheduled appointment.

    • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher on the treatment area if sun exposure is unavoidable.

    Avoid Hair Removal Methods:

    • Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams on the treatment area for at least four weeks prior to your appointment.

    • Shaving is permitted between treatments, as it does not interfere with the laser's targeting of hair follicles.

    Avoid Skin Irritants:

    • Refrain from using perfumes, deodorants, and products containing alcohol on the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

    • Notify our staff if you are using any topical medications or have experienced recent skin irritations.

    Inform Your Provider:

    • Disclose any changes in your medical history, medications, or skin conditions since your last visit. Inform us specifically if using medications that increase your sensitivity to the sunlight. Some examples of these would include: certain antibiotics, Accutane®, medications that treat acne, oral contraceptives.

    • Inform your technician if you are pregnant, as some laser treatments may not be suitable during pregnancy.

    Shave the Treatment Area:

    • It is important to shave the treatment area the night before or on the morning of your appointment. This ensures that the laser energy is targeted directly at the hair follicle beneath the skin.

    Hydrate and Moisturize:

    • Keep your skin well-hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment.

    • Moisturize the treatment area regularly, but avoid applying moisturizer on the day of your treatment.

    Comfortable Clothing:

    • Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment, and choose garments that allow easy access to the treatment area.

    Avoid Makeup:

    • Do not wear makeup on the treatment area on the day of your appointment, as it may interfere with the laser treatment.

    Stay Hydrated:

    • Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated.

     Plan Ahead:

    • Plan your schedule to allow for ample time for the treatment and any potential post-treatment care.

    • If you have any questions or concerns about these pre-instructions, please don't hesitate to contact our clinic.

    • We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to providing you with a positive laser hair removal experience.
